About Ushma Patel, MD
I am originally from NY. I attended City University of NY. My major was in biology and minor in psychology. My residency training was in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. I started my residency training at University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia and completed the program at University of Rochester, NY. I am board certified in both physical medicine and rehabilitation and pain management.
I moved to Ashland, KY in 2005. I joined the spine center at King’s Daughters Hospital in 2007. Our focus at the spine center is to reduce acute and chronic pain using cutting edge treatment options along with holistic therapies. Interventional pain strategies, physical therapy, mental health therapist and chiropractic care is used to address the root of pain. We look beyond medications to help patients deal with pain.
I joined Ashland Integrative Medicine in 2015. We are an "integrated Medical practice" utilizing a comprehensive and holistic skill set to address each patient's unique needs and circumstances. We see a high population of patients suffering from addiction and many health issues associated with drug and alcohol abuse. Common co-morbidities that are investigated include thyroid disorders, hormone imbalances, depression, Hepatitis and HIV.
We take the time necessary with each patient treating them with respect and care, ensuring that their treatment plan is the best path based on their needs. My focus is a holistic approach that includes the potential use of necessary medication, supplemental vitamins and minerals and encouragement to continue behavioral therapies such as IOP, 12 step meetings, faith-based program, etc. The treatment is always tailored to the individual patient needs, desires and comfort level.
We closely monitor our patient’s medication assisted therapies and taper you off as quickly and painlessly as possible when you are ready for the next step of your recovery.
